What is a safe sport environment?

Wetaskiwin Soccer Club recognizes the incredible experiences and opportunities that sport offers to children. These experiences are integral to both community development and enhanced child development. Safe environments for children foster positive experiences and healthy relationships between athletes and coaches. In order to create a safe environment, there must be clearly established guidelines and commonly understood expectations for professional boundaries between adults and athletes, and a sense of safety for those who need to bring forward any concerns of misconduct towards children.

Safe Sport Resources for Coaches, Volunteers, and Staff: 

Our club is committed to supporting our coaches, volunteers, and staff by implementing the following policies for responsible coaching. These policies are designed with both athletes and adults in mind to ensure physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of all club members. Note: Regarding Volunteer Screening Minimums, WSC adheres to the ASA policy linked below with the following adjustment. Wetaskiwin Soccer Club requires that all members working directly with players submit a Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Check at minimum once per calendar year. The club will provide a letter to those individuals requiring a check to ensure that no additional costs are incurred.
